Glamorgan and broadcasting legend Alan Wilkins has been appointed President of the club.
Wilkins, 70, has presented numerous cricket and rugby programmes in Wales and went on to a distinguished international broadcasting career.
As a player, he took 243 first-class wickets and 130 limited-overs victims during a county career with Glamorgan and then Gloucestershire. He also played in Glamorgan's maiden Gillette Cup final in 1977.
Wilkins is one of the most recognisable voices in sports broadcasting around the world.
His broadcasting career spans three decades and began in South Africa. The early informational days in Johannesburg provided the platform for his return to the UK where he became the most recognisable face and voice on BBC Wales Television, presenting and commentating on the BBC's coverage of the Five Nations Rugby Championship (later Six Nations), Wales' World Cup and European Championship qualifying campaigns, Glamorgan County Cricket and domestic cricket and rugby for the BBC Network (London).
In 1999, Alan had the honour of covering the ICC Cricket World Cup in England in June and the IRB Rugby World Cup in October for ITV, after which he was invited to move to Asia.
In February 2000, Alan moved to Singapore to take up a position with pan-Asian broadcaster ESPN Star Sports, establishing himself in a new television market, particularly in India, where he has been a household name in cricket since 1996.
He commented on India's first international cricket tour to England. Now with Star Sports India, cricket in India is part of his life, covering the ICC Cricket World Cup, India's domestic cricket for Star Sports and the BCCI, and the Indian Premier League.
A true legend of the game, he returns to Wales. He will begin his term as Glamorgan president immediately.
