Australia Sweep Pakistan in T20 Series

Marcus Stoinis powered Australia to a commanding seven-wicket victory over Pakistan, sealing a 3-0 series sweep in their T20 clash. However, the win in Hobart was overshadowed by a hamstring injury to Glenn Maxwell, who left the field after pulling up sore during fielding.

Maxwell’s injury, described as likely minor, will be reassessed following scans. “If he had to bat, he would have, but we took the conservative approach,” said captain Josh Inglis, adding that Maxwell should recover in time for the Big Bash League’s season opener on December 15.

Batting second, Australia cruised to 118 with more than eight overs to spare. Stoinis dominated with an unbeaten 61 off 27 balls, smashing five sixes and five fours, including a massive hit that reached the roof of the members’ stand at Ninja Stadium.

Earlier, Australia’s bowlers dismantled Pakistan’s batting lineup, skittling them for 117. Aaron Hardie achieved career-best figures of 3 for 21, while Adam Zampa impressed with 2 for 11. Despite a promising start at 61 for one, Pakistan collapsed, with Babar Azam (41 off 28) bowled by Zampa during a critical middle-over spell.

Spencer Johnson wrapped up Pakistan’s innings and finished as the series’ top wicket-taker with eight scalps, following his record-breaking performance at the SCG in the second game.

Off the field, Pakistan dealt with turmoil, denying reports that interim coach Jason Gillespie had been sacked. On the ground, a technical issue with ticketing caused delays, leaving fans queuing long after the match began.

With this series in the books, Australia now shifts focus to their first Test of the summer, starting Friday in Perth against India.
