Ahead of the third Women’s Premier League (WPL) season set for early 2025, Danni Wyatt-Hodge has been transferred from UP Warriorz (UPW) to the reigning champions, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). The WPL confirmed that Wyatt-Hodge, valued at INR 30 lakh during the previous auction in December 2023, will maintain this fee with her new team.
Wyatt-Hodge, at 33, stands as the third most-capped player in T20Is, with 164 appearances for England—trailing only Harmanpreet Kaur (177) and Suzie Bates (171). Her international record includes 2979 runs at an average of 22.91 and a strike rate of 127.85, marked by two centuries and 16 half-centuries. Recently, she showcased her form at the T20 World Cup, leading England's run-scoring with 151 runs at an average of 50.33 and a strike rate of 124.79.
Despite her impressive resume, Wyatt-Hodge went unsold at the first WPL auction due to her INR 50 lakh base price. Acquired by UPW for the second season, she didn’t feature in any games as the team finished fourth, missing the playoffs. Currently, she plays for the Hobart Hurricanes in the WBBL in Australia.
RCB captain Smriti Mandhana expressed enthusiasm for the addition, describing Wyatt-Hodge as a “game-changer and phenomenal athlete” whose talent and determination align with RCB’s ambitions. Mandhana voiced confidence that Wyatt-Hodge would bring fresh energy to the team.
Looking ahead, an auction for the WPL 2025 season is anticipated in December, with player retention lists due in early November. Each team can hold a maximum of 18 players, with up to six overseas members. Last season, RCB’s international lineup featured Sophie Devine, Ellyse Perry, Nadine de Klerk, Kate Cross, Sophie Molineux, and Georgia Wareham.
