Danni Wyatt-Hodge is set to join Surrey in the upcoming Women’s Tier 1 county competition, moving from her former team, the Southern Vipers based in Hampshire.
Currently representing the Hobart Hurricanes in the Women’s Big Bash League and having recently competed in the T20 World Cup in the UAE for England, the 33-year-old has had a packed season. Last summer, she played for both the Southern Vipers in the Charlotte Edwards Cup and Rachel Heyhoe Flint Trophy and for Southern Brave, both based in Southampton.
Wyatt-Hodge’s move to Surrey for the 2025 season brings her alongside England teammates Sophia Dunkley and Alice Capsey. She shared her excitement, saying that joining Surrey felt like an honour, and noted the club’s success-driven culture and incredible history. She highlighted her love for playing at the Kia Oval and her eagerness to engage Surrey fans. The positive, dynamic cricket style of the South East Stars influenced her decision.
A veteran of 278 England matches since her debut in 2010 at 19, Wyatt-Hodge has amassed over 5,000 runs across formats, making her England's all-time top T20I run-scorer with 2,979 runs in 164 matches and a strike rate of 127.85. Initially playing county cricket for Staffordshire at 14, she has represented Southern Vipers since 2020 and is also set to play for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in this year's WPL, after previously playing for UP Warriorz.
Emma Calvert, Surrey’s Director of Women’s Cricket, expressed great excitement about Wyatt-Hodge’s commitment to Surrey, noting her impressive career and her alignment with the team’s playing style. Calvert added that Wyatt-Hodge would bring both on-field talent and off-field camaraderie to the team, and that they’re looking forward to seeing her in action with the Three Feathers.
