Gough, who played for Yorkshire for 15 years, took over as Director of Cricket in December 2021, succeeding Martyn Moxon.
The 53-year-old had to navigate the county through the fallout from the Azeem Rafiq racism scandal, which resulted in 16 departures from the club at the end of 2021, including Moxon:
"Having stepped in at a very challenging time, we've worked hard to steady the ship and develop our cricket department to ensure we can return to the top tier of English cricket."
Gough arrived on an interim basis and was later permanently appointed in November 2022.
His main aims were to rebuild the club and restore trust in the county's management.
He oversaw the appointment of new staff, including head coach Ottis Gibson, and the overhaul of the men's squad. He also contributed to the continued development of the women's game, notably through the Hundred Side Northern Diamonds.
Yorkshire kick off the 2024 Championship season on April 5. They play Leicestershire at home in Division Two.
