England's Youthful Revamp

The international careers of Moeen Ali and potentially Jonny Bairstow seem uncertain after they were omitted from England's revamped white-ball squads set to face Australia next month.

Chris Woakes, another key figure from England's 2019 World Cup-winning team, and Chris Jordan have also been left out, while Liam Livingstone has been dropped from the ODI squad, and Joe Root has been given a rest.

In their place, captain Jos Buttler and interim white-ball coach Marcus Trescothick have opted for a younger lineup. The T20 squad now features Warwickshire's promising talents, all-rounder Jacob Bethell and batsman Dan Mousley, aged 20 and 23, respectively. They are joined by 20-year-old Leicestershire left-arm seamer Josh Hull, who was recently brought into the Test squad. Additionally, Essex batsman Jordan Cox and Hampshire fast bowler John Turner are among the five uncapped players selected for the three-match T20 series against Australia, which kicks off at Southampton’s Utilita Bowl on September 11.

The return of Durham seamer Brydon Carse, who has completed a three-month suspension for breaching betting regulations, marks another notable inclusion in both formats. Saqib Mahmood, who recently played a crucial role in Oval Invincibles’ victory in The Hundred, has also been named in the 20-over squad.

The T20 squad includes Jos Buttler (captain), Jofra Archer, Jacob Bethell, Brydon Carse, Jordan Cox, Sam Curran, Josh Hull, Will Jacks, Liam Livingstone, Saqib Mahmood, Dan Mousley, Adil Rashid, Phil Salt, Reece Topley, and John Turner.

For the ODI series, the squad features Buttler (captain), Archer, Gus Atkinson, Bethell, Harry Brook, Carse, Ben Duckett, Hull, Jacks, Matthew Potts, Rashid, Jamie Smith, Topley, and Turner.
