Eoin Morgan Dismisses Rumours of Replacing Matthew Mott as England Coach

Eoin Morgan has firmly denied rumours suggesting he could succeed Matthew Mott as England's men's white-ball coach following their semi-final exit in the recent T20 World Cup. Morgan, while commentating on The Hundred, labelled the reports as mere "speculation," stating that the news was new to him. He expressed sympathy for Mott, noting it's unfortunate for a coach to be under scrutiny, but acknowledged that only time will reveal future developments.

Mott, who is midway through a four-year contract, led England to a T20 World Cup victory shortly after his appointment. However, his position is under review after England's disappointing performances in the last two major tournaments. Both Mott and captain Jos Buttler faced criticism following England's three wins in nine games during the previous 50-over World Cup, with two victories coming after their elimination.

At the T20 World Cup, England reached the semi-finals but suffered a heavy defeat to India in Guyana, winning only one of their four matches against Test-playing nations. England's managing director, Rob Key, announced a review of the tournament's outcomes, which is currently in progress. Reports suggest Mott might leave his role, and Key is reportedly considering potential replacements, including Morgan.
