Friendly match between Yorkshire and Leeds/Bradford MCCU

Ottis Gibson has praised his squad for a job well done during Yorkshire's pre-season tour of Abu Dhabi, which concluded last week. Now, it is time to focus on their work on home soil.

He reflected on their application during their 10-day stay in the desert and was encouraged by their performances across the five days of T20 and red ball action against fellow county opposition.

Yorkshire finished fourth out of six teams in the Abu Dhabi Counties Super Cup T20 competition, winning one game and losing two. Last week, they faced Warwickshire in a two-day red ball game.

On day one, they bowled the Bears out for 310 and on day two, they responded with 330-9.

Jordan Thompson and Matthew Fisher shared seven wickets before George Hill scored 81.

The team's first match is a three-day game against Leeds/Bradford MCC Universities, which is open to members and supporters.

Following this, they will play a two-day game against Durham behind closed doors on Easter Sunday and Monday.

Looking at the action from the weekend before last, Yorkshire won one and lost one against Somerset in the T20s, but were beaten by eventual champions Birmingham Bears.

In the two matches against Somerset, James Wharton stood out with scores of 60 and 54.

Thompson and Fisher, two bowlers who have spent a lot of time playing franchise and England Lions cricket this winter, claimed four and three wickets respectively on day one of the red ball clash with Warwickshire.

On day two, Hill scored 81 runs. He is another player who spent time playing club cricket in New Zealand during January and February this winter.

The Leeds/Bradford match is an annual event in Yorkshire and last season's wicketkeeper-batter Harry Duke played for the students.

He is currently studying for a Business Management degree at Leeds University.

Duke will once again play for the visitors, providing both Yorkshire wicketkeepers with game time this week. Jonny Tattersall is included in Yorkshire's squad.

Several of the Leeds/Bradford bowlers have also spent time at Headingley this winter as net bowlers during Yorkshire's training.

Yorkshire squad for Leeds/Bradford: Lyth, Bean, Wharton, Hill, Tattersall, Revis, Milnes, Thompson, Fisher, Coad, Moriarty, Luxton, Leech, Cliff, and Edwards.

It should be noted that Yash Vagadia will play for Durham University against Durham.
