Hampshire, three-time T20 Blast champions, are reportedly among five teams invited to participate in the upcoming Global Super League, a new T20 cricket tournament. The competition, with a prize pool of $1 million (£764,000), is scheduled to debut in South America this November.
The event, officially approved by Cricket West Indies, is supported by the government of Guyana, which will host the matches. According to BBC Radio Solent, Hampshire has been invited to compete, and it is understood that South Africa's franchise, The Titans, will also join the tournament.
This marks the first stand-alone cricket event in South America and will include the Guyana Amazon Warriors as one of the competing teams. All matches are set to take place at the Guyana National Stadium in Providence, a venue with a 20,000 spectator capacity.
The tournament will feature five teams from different countries and is scheduled to run from 26 November to 7 December.
