Harry Tector has been fined 15 percent of his match fees for violating Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during the Belfast Test against Zimbabwe. The violation pertains to "showing dissent at an Umpire’s decision during an International Match," as per the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel.
This incident marks Tector's first offence within a 24-month period, resulting in one demerit point added to his disciplinary record.
The breach occurred during the sixth over of Ireland's second innings when Tector expressed his displeasure after being caught behind. He was slow to leave the field and made a gesture toward the umpire, as observed by the match official. Tector admitted to the misconduct and accepted the penalty proposed by Jeff Crowe from the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Match Referees, thereby avoiding a formal disciplinary hearing.
Level 1 violations typically result in at least an official reprimand, with possible penalties extending to a fine of up to 50 percent of the player’s match fee, and one or two demerit points.
