Ireland's Simi Singh is Awaiting Life-Saving Transplant

Ireland cricketer Simi Singh is facing a critical health battle, as the all-rounder has been diagnosed with acute liver failure and is in urgent need of a transplant.

Cricket Ireland’s chief executive, Warren Deutrom, confirmed the seriousness of Singh’s condition, calling the news “shocking” and extending heartfelt support. Deutrom expressed his thoughts and prayers for the 37-year-old, wishing him strength in what he called "a new fight" for the player.

Singh, who had been unwell for some time while in Ireland, travelled back to his native India earlier this summer to seek treatment. According to a report from The Times of India, he is currently receiving care at Medanta Hospital in Gurgaon, where he awaits a liver transplant. Singh’s wife, Agamdeep, has volunteered to donate part of her liver for the procedure.

Parvinder Singh, Singh’s father-in-law, shared with The Times of India that doctors are optimistic about the transplant’s success, which they hope will provide Singh with a new chance at life.

Describing Singh as an integral figure in Irish cricket, Deutrom highlighted his drive and determination on and off the field. "He has always shown great commitment to succeed, whether representing Ireland at the international level, playing for provincial teams, or within the club circuit,” Deutrom said. He added that this same determination would help Singh overcome his current health challenges, encouraging him to "stay strong" and assuring him that the entire cricketing community stands behind him.

Throughout his career, Simi Singh has represented Ireland in 35 One-Day Internationals and 53 T20 matches, including appearances in the 2021 and 2022 T20 World Cup tournaments.
