Litton Das is set to lead the Bangladesh team as captain for an entire T20I series for the first time during their upcoming three-match series against the West Indies. Previously, he had stepped in for Mahmudullah during the New Zealand tour in April 2021. This series marks the conclusion of Bangladesh's ongoing all-format tour in the West Indies.
In this squad, Shamim Hossain makes a return after last playing in a T20I in December 2023, while 21-year-old Ripon Mondol receives his first call-up to a full-strength international team. Mondol had recently participated in three T20Is during the Asian Games in Hangzhou, securing four wickets as Bangladesh clinched third place.
Notably, regular captain Najmul Hossain Shanto remains unavailable due to a hamstring injury sustained in November against Afghanistan, and there are no updates regarding Shakib Al Hasan’s status in international cricket.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz previously led the Bangladesh team in the recently concluded two-Test series in the Caribbean, which ended in a draw at 1-1, and he is also leading them in the ongoing ODI series.
From the squad that played in India in October, several players, including Towhid Hridoy, Mustafizur Rahman, and Mahmudullah, who has retired from T20Is, are missing. In addition to Shamim and Mondol, Hasan Mahmud, Nasum Ahmed, Soumya Sarkar, and Afif Hossain are also included in the new lineup.
