Matthew Mott Joins Sydney Sixers

Former head coach of England's Men's and Australia's Women's cricket teams, Matthew Mott, has signed a three-year contract to become the assistant coach of the Sydney Sixers. He will work alongside head coach Greg Shipperd, replacing Cameron White, who took over as head coach of the Melbourne Renegades earlier in June.

Mott’s coaching career has been highly successful, having led the Australian women's team to multiple titles, including the ODI World Cup in 2022 and the T20 World Cups in 2018 and 2020. He also guided England’s men to their T20 World Cup victory in 2022.

Returning to Sydney, where he began his coaching career in 2007 as head coach of New South Wales Blues, Mott expressed his excitement about rejoining the Sixers. He stated that Sydney holds special memories for him, and he looks forward to working with Shipperd, whom he greatly respects.

Rachael Haynes, General Manager of the Sydney Sixers, stated that bringing in a coach of Mott’s calibre was an easy decision. She highlighted the immense value Mott would bring to the team over the next three years.

The Sydney Sixers are set to kick off their BBL season against the Melbourne Renegades on December 16.
