Middlesex Secures First One-Day Cup Victory Amid High-Scoring Contest

In the sunny setting of Radlett, Middlesex achieved their first One-Day Cup win of the season, breaking a streak of four consecutive defeats across all competitions. The match, which featured a total of 636 runs, handed Northamptonshire their third straight loss in Group A, putting them in a challenging position needing to win all five of their remaining group games to have a shot at advancing to the knockout stages.

Nathan Fernandes and captain Mark Stoneman both scored 83 runs, while Joe Cracknell added 49, helping Middlesex recover from losing their first two games and ending their T20 Blast campaign on a low note. Martin Andersson and Jack Davies then led the team to victory, reaching 319-5 and winning by five wickets with 11 balls remaining.

Andersson, not out on 35, watched as Davies scored 21 runs off the 48th over, including two sixes and two fours, from Justin Broad. Davies then secured the victory by hitting the winning boundary off Raphy Weatherall, concluding his quick-fire innings with 31 runs off 17 balls. Earlier, Northants posted a competitive total of 317-9 in their 50 overs, with three players scoring half-centuries.

Opener Prithvi Shaw top-scored with 76, supported by Gus Miller (73) and Saif Zaib (58). Zaib and Miller shared a crucial 125-run partnership, rescuing their team from a precarious 122-5.

Northants will next travel to Chester-le-Street on Friday to face Durham. Meanwhile, Middlesex, currently without access to Lord's due to The Hundred, will play again on Sunday against Kent in Beckenham before hosting Durham at Radlett the following Tuesday.
