New Zealand’s historic one-off Test match against Afghanistan ended without a single ball being bowled after continuous rain washed out all five days of play.
The match, held in Greater Noida, India, became just the eighth men's Test in cricket history to be abandoned without any play. Persistent rainfall plagued the game, leading to the cancellation of the final three days after overnight rain persisted.
This also marks the first instance of a men’s Test match in India being completely washed out due to weather conditions.
The last time a men's Test was abandoned without any play occurred in 1998, when New Zealand’s home Test against India in Dunedin suffered the same fate.
New Zealand will now prepare for their upcoming two-Test series in Sri Lanka later this month. Following that, the Black Caps return to India for three more Tests in October before hosting England for another three-Test series in November and December.
