Northamptonshire Parts Ways with Head Coach

Northamptonshire has decided to part company with head coach John Sadler after his three-year tenure with the team. The announcement came just a day after the Steelbacks were knocked out of the T20 Blast quarter-finals, losing to Somerset by 17 runs.

This defeat marked their last opportunity for a trophy this season, as they failed to reach the knockout rounds of the One-Day Cup and have yet to secure a win in the County Championship, recording eight draws and three losses so far.

In a statement, the club acknowledged Sadler’s professionalism, hard work, and dedication throughout his time at Wantage Road.

For the remainder of the season, assistant coaches Rory Kleinveldt (bowling), Greg Smith (batting), and Graeme White (spin bowling, fielding, and 2nd XI) will step in to lead the team.

Sadler assumed the head coach role after working alongside his predecessor, David Ripley, who had led the team for nine years. While Northamptonshire finished sixth in County Championship Division One in 2022, they were relegated last summer and have not claimed a limited-overs trophy since 2016.
