Northamptonshire has secured the services of Indian spinner Yuzvendra Chahal on a short-term deal for the rest of the 2024 season. The 34-year-old will join the Steelbacks just in time for their final One-Day Cup match against Kent on Wednesday, as well as for the last five County Championship fixtures of the season.
Chahal brings a wealth of international experience to Northamptonshire, having played in 72 One-Day Internationals for India, where he has taken 121 wickets. He has also claimed 96 wickets in 80 T20 internationals for his country.
Northants head coach John Sadler expressed his enthusiasm about the signing, noting that Chahal is another high-profile overseas player who brings both valuable experience and exceptional skills to the team, as stated on the club’s website.
Chahal previously had a stint with Kent last year, where he made a notable impact by taking nine wickets in two of their final three Division One matches.
