Glamorgan and Somerset were left frustrated as rain washed out the scheduled One-Day Cup final at Trent Bridge, with no play possible due to the weather.
A reserve day has been set for Monday, 23 September, but the forecast remains unfavourable, with more rain predicted in the Midlands. If the teams are unable to play at least a 20-over match, the trophy will be shared between the two clubs.
Umpires David Millns and Rob White officially called off the day's play at 14:30 BST as rain intensified, leaving pools of water on the outfield and disappointing supporters who had travelled from both counties.
Both Glamorgan and Somerset are hoping the 50-over competition can salvage what has been a disappointing season for them. Somerset were defeated in the T20 Blast final by local rivals Gloucestershire, while Surrey claimed the County Championship title.
Glamorgan, meanwhile, have struggled in Division Two of the Championship, currently sitting seventh, making this match a crucial opportunity to repeat their 2021 One-Day Cup triumph.
If the match is ultimately abandoned, it will likely fuel further criticism of the late September scheduling for the final, especially with a similar date already planned for 2025.
