Return of Jayden Seales and Daniel Hughes

West Indies Test bowler Jayden Seales and Australian batter Daniel Hughes have both committed to rejoining Sussex for the 2025 season.

The 22-year-old fast bowler, Seales, is set to be available for the initial block of County Championship matches next year. During his time with Sussex in 2024, he made a significant impact by taking 38 wickets in seven County Championship games, maintaining an average of 25.29.

Sussex, currently leading Division Two, is also set to face Lancashire Lightning in the T20 Blast quarter-finals.

Seales expressed his eagerness to rejoin the team, sharing with the club’s website that he is excited to return, particularly with the hope of competing in Division One next year. Seales recently took 13 wickets in the West Indies' series against England, bringing his total to 62 wickets in 15 Test matches.

Meanwhile, 35-year-old Hughes will be available for all of Sussex's County Championship and T20 Blast fixtures in the upcoming season. He was the leading run-scorer in the group stage of this season's Blast, accumulating 560 runs at an average of 43.07.

Hughes, who is currently available for Sussex's remaining five Division Two County Championship matches, scored 48 runs in his sole appearance against Northamptonshire this season.

Reflecting on his time at Sussex, Hughes mentioned that he has thoroughly enjoyed his first season with the club, feeling warmly welcomed by the team, coaches, and the entire Sussex community. When head coach Paul Farbrace offered him the chance to return for another season, Hughes quickly accepted, eager to continue his journey with Sussex.
