Rocky Flintoff, son of former England all-rounder Andrew Flintoff, scored a century for England Under-19s on the third day of the second Test against Sri Lanka.
Starting the day at 82 not out, the 16-year-old reached his hundred within the first hour, taking 176 balls and hitting eight fours and two sixes. Shortly after, he was dismissed for 106, leaving England at 454-7 with a first-innings lead of 301 runs. Flintoff's century makes him the youngest player to achieve this feat for England Under-19s.
Flintoff's rise has been impressive this summer. He signed his first professional contract with Lancashire after scoring a century for their second XI. His debut for England Under-19s came during the current tour of Sri Lanka, in a team that includes Archie Vaughan, son of former England captain Michael Vaughan, as well as Farhan Ahmed and Jaydn Denly, relatives of international cricketers Rehan and Joe.
Andrew Flintoff, Rocky's father, played 79 Tests, 141 one-day internationals, and seven T20s for England between 1999 and 2009. He played a pivotal role in England's famous 2005 Ashes victory, captained the team between 2006 and 2007, and transitioned to a television career post-cricket, joining Top Gear in 2019. Flintoff senior was injured during a filming accident for the show in December 2022. He was part of England's limited-overs coaching team last summer and became head coach of the Northern Superchargers men's team in The Hundred in November 2023.
