Jayden Seales produced a stellar bowling performance, taking 4 for 5 in 15.5 overs, as West Indies bowled out Bangladesh for a modest 164 on the second day of the second Test at Sabina Park. His remarkable economy rate marked the most frugal Test bowling figures since 1977, considering a minimum of 60 deliveries. In reply, Kraigg Brathwaite and Keacy Carty guided West Indies to 70 for 1 before bad light brought an early close for the second consecutive day.
The day began with Shamar Joseph rattling the Bangladesh batting lineup. After the visitors reached 83 for 2, a sudden collapse saw them reduced to 98 for 6 in just 34 deliveries. Shamar dismantled a resilient 73-run stand between Shadman Islam and Shahadat Hossain, clean-bowling the latter for 22. He then dismissed Jaker Ali and Shadman with sharp deliveries, with wicketkeeper Joshua Da Silva playing a crucial role behind the stumps.
Despite a brief resistance from Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Taijul Islam, who added 41 runs over 116 balls, the tail fell swiftly. Seales claimed the final three wickets for just five runs, dismissing Taskin Ahmed, Mehidy, and Nahid Rana in quick succession.
In their reply, West Indies lost Mikyle Louis early to Nahid Rana’s fiery pace, but Brathwaite and Carty steadied the innings. Taijul Islam troubled the hosts with his spin, delivering seven maiden overs, but remained wicketless. At stumps, West Indies trailed by 94 runs, firmly in control of the match.
