Somerset's Head Coach Extends

Jason Kerr, the long-standing head coach of Somerset, has committed to staying with the club until the conclusion of the 2026 season, following the signing of a contract extension.

The 50-year-old, who has been integral to Somerset's coaching staff in various capacities since 2005, took on the role of head coach ahead of the 2018 season. Kerr, who represented Somerset as an all-rounder from 1993 to 2001, has since led the team to significant successes, including the Royal London One-Day Cup victory in 2019 and the Vitality T20 Blast title last year, where they triumphed over Essex Eagles in the final at Edgbaston.

Reflecting on his contract extension, Kerr expressed his excitement and gratitude on the club's official website. He emphasised the privilege of continuing his journey with Somerset, noting that success as a coach is gauged by how much he can elevate the squad. He added that he is fortunate to work with a group whose potential is incredibly high, and his focus is on helping them achieve their aspirations.

Kerr also highlighted his deep connection to the club, stating that Somerset is not only his home but also a place that holds significant meaning for many across the southwest and beyond. He conveyed that the club is ingrained in his identity and will always be a part of who he is.
