South Africa’s roaring start in the T20 World Cup

South Africa kicked off their T20 World Cup campaign with an emphatic six-wicket victory over Sri Lanka at the Nassau County International Stadium in New York.

Quinton de Kock led the charge with 20 runs, guiding the Proteas to their modest target of 78 in just under 17 overs, with David Miller sealing the win with a boundary. Heinrich Klaasen also contributed an unbeaten 19.

Anrich Nortje was the star for South Africa, taking four wickets for just seven runs as Sri Lanka crumbled and were all out for 77.

Kusal Mendis and Angelo Mathews provided some resistance, but Nortje's bowling ensured there were no slip-ups for South Africa.

The victory puts South Africa at the top of their group, ahead of their next match against the team that eliminated them in the previous tournament, while Sri Lanka will face Nepal next.

Earlier in the day, Namibia clinched a thrilling super over victory against Oman, with David Wiese playing a pivotal role with both bat and ball.

After both teams scored 109 runs in their respective innings, Namibia emerged victorious in the super over, with Wiese delivering a crucial wicket and restricting Oman to just 10 runs. Namibia will take on Scotland in their next match, while Oman will face Australia.
