Southern Brave Secure Eliminator Spot

Southern Brave secured their place in the Eliminator of The Hundred, despite their match against Welsh Fire at the Utilita Bowl being cut short due to rain. The one point they gained from the abandoned match was enough to elevate them above Northern Superchargers on net run-rate, ensuring a top-three finish, regardless of the outcome of Birmingham Phoenix's upcoming match against Manchester Originals.

Welsh Fire set a formidable target of 181-5 from their 100 balls, largely due to a powerful fourth-wicket stand between Luke Wells and Glenn Phillips. This explosive partnership added 76 runs in just 30 balls. Wells led the scoreboard with 53 from 30 deliveries, while Phillips dazzled with a rapid 48 off 19 balls, including five towering sixes, one of which soared an impressive 103 meters.

Southern Brave’s response was shaky, losing both Alex Davies and James Vince early, reducing them to 21-2 within the first 16 balls of their innings. However, before they could attempt a comeback, the weather intervened, forcing the match to be abandoned. Despite the rain, the single point gained was sufficient for Brave to secure their position in the tournament's next phase.
