Worcestershire Sign Ben Allison on Three-Year Contract

Worcestershire have finalised the permanent signing of Essex all-rounder Ben Allison, handing him a three-year contract. Allison, who had previously joined Worcestershire on two loan spells, played a key role in helping the team secure promotion to Division One of the County Championship last summer.

The 24-year-old returned to the club for two games in June, one of which was a crucial win over Durham that significantly eased Worcestershire’s relegation concerns. Throughout his career, Allison has made 14 first-class, 20 List-A, and 25 T20 appearances.

Reflecting on his time at New Road, Allison expressed how much he enjoyed being part of the squad during the final games of the previous season. He said that returning for another stint this summer was an easy decision, especially given the importance of the Championship win over Durham in their fight to remain in the top division. He also praised the welcoming atmosphere in the dressing room, which helped him integrate seamlessly into the team. During his loan spell last summer, Allison contributed five wickets and 134 runs, including a career-best score of 75.

Pears head coach Alan Richardson described Allison as a courageous player with a strong team mindset. He noted Allison’s potential as a batsman, pointing to his first-class half-centuries and solid performances for Worcestershire last year. Richardson also highlighted Allison’s excellent fielding skills, particularly in the outfield and slip catching, adding that the all-rounder will bring great value to the team.
