Worcestershire's Adam Finch Set for Quick Return

Worcestershire seamer Adam Finch is expected to be fit in time for the next season following successful knee surgery, which has shortened his recovery period from six months to just three or four.

The 24-year-old had been coping with a double tear in his knee capsule and meniscus since June. Despite his injury, Finch delayed surgery to help the injury-plagued Pears during their crucial fight to remain in Division One. His efforts included a standout performance in their important win against Kent in late August, where he took four wickets and achieved a career-best score of 43 with the bat.

However, after that match, the decision was made to move forward with his operation, and the club confirmed that Finch "should be fit for the start of next season."

Worcestershire head coach Alan Richardson expressed his relief, noting that there was initial concern Finch might miss the start of the season. Thankfully, with everything going well, Finch is expected to return earlier than anticipated. Richardson explained that the surgery had gone well and reduced the expected rehabilitation time from six months to around three or four.

During Finch's recovery, Worcestershire managed to beat Essex and draw with Warwickshire, securing enough bonus points in their loss to Hampshire to maintain their Division One status for 2025. This marks only the second time the club has achieved survival in the top flight after promotion.

Worcestershire will now conclude their County Championship season at home against relegation-threatened Lancashire on Thursday.
