Bangladesh Clinch Historic Series Win

Second Test, Rawalpindi (Day Five of Five)

Pakistan: 274 (Ayub 58) & 172 (Mahmud 5-43)

Bangladesh: 262 (Das 138) & 185-4 (Zakir 40)

Result: Bangladesh won by six wickets; secured series 2-0

Bangladesh made history with a nerve-wracking victory in the second Test against Pakistan in Rawalpindi, securing their first-ever series win over the home side.

Set a target of 185 for their third-highest successful run-chase in Test cricket, Bangladesh remained composed, sealing a memorable six-wicket win on the fifth day.

The victory marked a stunning comeback for Bangladesh, who had been reeling at 26-6 in their first innings before a crucial 165-run partnership between Litton Das (138) and Mehidy Hasan Miraz (78) helped them recover to 262, trailing Pakistan by just 12 runs.

Seamer Hasan Mahmud led the bowling charge in Pakistan’s second innings, claiming 5-43, while 21-year-old pacer Nahid Rana impressed with speeds exceeding 93 mph, finishing with 4-44 as Pakistan collapsed to 172 in 47 overs.

Bangladesh’s top-order contributed solidly on the final day, with all six batters passing 20 runs to chase down the target, moving the Tigers to fourth in the World Test Championship standings, ahead of England in fifth.

Meanwhile, Pakistan, who are set to host England for a three-Test series in October, have now gone 10 home Tests without a win, their longest streak since the 1969-1975 period. India and Australia, currently occupying the top two spots, are set to clash in the World Test Championship final at Lord’s next summer.
