Confirmation of board appointments for Derbyshire CCC

Derbyshire has welcomed three new Non-Executive Directors to the Board, who were elected at the Club's Annual General Meeting on Wednesday 27 March 2024.

Tom Poynton, Jeff Moore, and Rachel Morris will each serve three-year terms, replacing Colin Tunnicliffe, Hari Punchihewa, and Jason Fage, respectively.

Jeffrey Moore has joined as Non-Executive Director - Finance. With a distinguished career as Chair, CEO, and CFO, he has extensive executive and non-executive experience across various sectors, including property, venture capital, brewing, aerospace, and professional sport.

In 1999, he joined the East Midlands Development Agency (EMDA) as CFO and later became CEO in 2004. During his tenure, he worked closely with various government departments to deliver Economic Development and Business Support initiatives worth approximately £200 million per year across the East Midlands. He retired in 2012.

Moore currently chairs two venture capital fund advisory committees. These funds have invested approximately £70 million in investee companies. Previously, he chaired three other similar advisory committees that invested over £100 million in businesses nationwide.

As a former Chair of Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club (2021-2023) and Notts County Football Club in the mid-2000s, Moore possesses an extensive understanding of the professional sports sector. He utilises his vast experience and engaging leadership style to support organisations through positive change.

Morris has been elected as the Non-Executive Director-General and CEO of SV2 - Supporting Victims of Sexual Violence Ltd. He is also the founder of the fundraising group Friends of Derby 500 Club.

He has held senior strategic roles in a range of organisations across the city, including Derby Cathedral, the Diocese of Derby, YMCA Derbyshire, DHA, The Derby Law Centre and Relate, as well as voluntary roles and chairing multi-agency forums to improve the lives of disadvantaged, vulnerable and marginalised people in society.

Morris is a trustee of the Derby County Community Trust, responsible for safeguarding and investment. She is passionate about the City of Derby and the wider county. Additionally, she is a keen supporter of Derbyshire cricket and regularly attends matches at The County Ground. She first worked at The County Ground while studying at University.

Poynton has returned to Derbyshire as a Non-Executive Director for Cricket. He played for Derbyshire for almost a decade and was a member of the 2012 County Championship Division Two title-winning side. Poynton has a deep and current understanding of the professional game. In addition to his cricketing career, he has also developed a successful career in financial advice and investment management. He is an Executive Director at an FCA-regulated investment management firm, which gives him a solid background in governance, risk management, financial management, and strategic business planning.

During the AGM on Wednesday 27 March, Club Chair Ian Morgan expressed his gratitude to Jason Fage, Hari Punchihewa, and Colin Tunnicliffe for their dedicated service on the Board and announced that all three will be awarded Vice Presidencies with immediate effect.
