Derbyshire CCC re-signs Zak Chappell for two more years

Derbyshire fast bowler Zak Chappell has signed a two-year contract extension to keep him at the Incora County Ground until the end of the 2026 season.

Chappell, 27, joined Derbyshire at the end of 2022 and enjoyed a strong first season with the Club, claiming 50 wickets in all formats.

He made history in the 2023 Vitality Blast by breaking the Falcons’ Club record for T20 wickets in a single season, with 26 dismissals to his name.

Chappell’s new deal comes as part of a busy winter for Derbyshire, with the signings of Mohammad Amir, David Lloyd, Samit Patel, Ross Whiteley, Aneurin Donald and Pat Brown, as well as contract extensions for Wayne Madsen, Anuj Dal and Mitch Wagstaff.

The tall quick has claimed 180 wickets in his career, across spells with Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire, while he also impressed at the 2023 Men’s Hundred, taking six wickets for Oval Invincibles, on their way to lifting the trophy.
