Tom Cant believes that all areas of the Northern Diamonds structure are prepared for the upcoming summer.
Cant, the Diamonds' senior regional talent manager, has provided his final winter update to yorkshireccc.com. He discussed training, fixtures for the second team and Academy, coaching responsibilities, and the Emerging Players Programme.
Although his responsibilities lie primarily with the reserve team, he has been assisting Dani Hazell during their pre-season tour in Mumbai for the past few weeks.
Cant and Harrison will collaborate closely with Hazell and assistant coach Kyle Coetzer. The latter two will be responsible for the senior Diamonds squad.
Cant stated that the Diamonds' second-team fixtures for 2024 will include six 50-over games against northern teams, which will be spread out throughout the season, including the Hundred period:
“The Northern group sees us play Central Sparks (May 17), Thunder (May 20) and The Blaze (June 5).”
Regarding Project Darwin, 16 out of the 18 county clubs have bid for eight Tier One teams to replace the current regions from 2025. Cant stated, 'We have discussed this with the women and understand the implications.'
