Felix Organ and Hampshire Dominate Lancashire in One-Day Cup Victory

Felix Organ's unbeaten 74 off 57 balls set the stage for Brad Wheal and John Turner's demolition of Lancashire's batting lineup, securing Hampshire a 71-run victory in the Metro Bank One-Day Cup.

Hampshire found themselves struggling at 50 for 4, but Organ led a spirited comeback with his second fifty of the season. Lancashire's top-order collapse was even more dramatic, as Wheal and Turner's blistering pace reduced them to 19 for 5. Wheal finished with 3 for 14, while Turner took 4 for 24.

Chris Green's valiant 100, his first List A century, provided some resistance for Lancashire. However, Organ's all-round performance, including 2 for 31 with his off-spin, ensured Hampshire's triumph and kept them competitive in Group A.

Continuing a trend, Hampshire lost a wicket early, with Joe Weatherley nicking Will Williams behind. Fletcha Middleton followed, falling to Tom Bailey's delivery. Nick Gubbins managed the first boundary, but soon played onto his stumps, leaving Hampshire at 32 for 3. Tom Prest's chip to short midwicket furthered the collapse to 50 for 4. Despite the top-order woes, Hampshire found stability through Toby Albert and Ben Brown, who added 44 runs. Following their dismissals, Organ and Dom Kelly's 76-run partnership pushed Hampshire close to 200. Organ's proactive approach saw him reach a 47-ball fifty, and his innings proved invaluable.

Kelly's run-a-ball 36 and Eddie Jack's brief stay were followed by Organ leading the charge with 62 runs in the last six overs, taking Hampshire to a defendable 222. Lancashire's chase faltered early as Wheal and Turner wreaked havoc, with their near-90mph deliveries exploiting the pitch's bounce and movement. Wheal's early strikes included Harry Singh and George Balderson, while Turner dismantled Josh Bohannon's off stump and saw George Bell spectacularly caught by Weatherley.

Green prevented a record low for Lancashire, forming a 51-run partnership with Rocky Flintoff. He reached his half-century in 48 balls and continued to fight as wickets fell around him. Flintoff was leg-before to Organ, and the tailenders struggled to support Green. Williams' brief stay allowed Green to complete a well-deserved hundred in 94 balls before he was bowled by Turner, sealing Hampshire's victory.
