The New Zealand fast bowler has joined the club for a three-month stint across all formats.
New Zealand fast bowler Blair Tickner has joined Derbyshire for the first three months of the season across all formats.
Tickner, 30, has taken almost 400 career wickets, including 202 in first-class cricket with best figures of 5 for 23 for Central Districts against Canterbury in 2017-18.
Making his Test debut against England at Mount Maunganui in 2023, he picked up the wickets of Ben Duckett, Harry Brook, and Ben Foakes, with figures of 3 for 55 in the second innings. As a tall and fast bowler capable of hitting 90mph, he showcased his skills on the field.
He also performed well in the recent Ford Trophy List A competition in New Zealand, taking 17 wickets at an average of 20.64. He will be available to play for Derbyshire in nine County Championship matches and eight Vitality Blast matches until the end of his stint on July 4.
Tickner's signing adds to Derbyshire's busy recruitment period which has also seen Samit Patel, Mohammad Amir and Ross Whiteley join the club ahead of the 2024 season.
According to Mickey Arthur, Derbyshire's head of cricket, Blair brings real pace and international quality to their bowling attack. He is an experienced bowler across formats and will be a great asset for them in the first half of the season.
