Hampshire wicket-keeper Ben Brown has signed a contract extension, ensuring his stay at the club through the end of the 2025 season. The 35-year-old has been a key player since joining from Sussex in 2022, making 66 appearances and earning Hampshire’s Red-Ball Batter of the Year award in his debut season after scoring 969 runs at an average of 38.66.
Hampshire’s director of cricket, Giles White, praised Brown, describing him as a "fantastic player" with high standards and a winning mentality that propels the team forward. White pointed out Brown’s combined abilities as a wicketkeeper and a batsman, noting his immense value to the squad.
Soon after his debut in April 2022, Brown, along with Liam Dawson, set a New Hampshire record for a fifth-wicket partnership with a 273-run stand. Brown’s batting highlights include a career-best 165 against Surrey in the County Championship in May and an unbeaten 139 against Northamptonshire in the One-Day Cup in July.
Expressing his delight at extending his contract, Brown said he is thrilled to continue playing for Hampshire and looks forward to helping the team compete for trophies next season. He acknowledged how special each year becomes at this stage of his career and is eager to contribute further.
