Glamorgan emerged victorious by 13 runs against the Kent Spitfires in a rain-interrupted match at Canterbury, with Marnus Labuschagne delivering an impressive all-around performance.
The game, reduced to 13 overs per side due to heavy rain, saw Glamorgan post a total of 145 for 6. Labuschagne was the standout with an unbeaten 50 from 26 balls and later contributed with the ball, taking 1 for 14 in his two overs.
Sam Billings managed to score 33 off 17 balls for Kent, but they struggled to keep pace with the required run rate of over 11 per over. Timm van der Gugten's two wickets in the 11th over dashed any remaining hopes for Kent, who ended on 132 for 5.
The match, starting at 8 pm due to the rain delay, had Glamorgan batting first and attacking aggressively from the beginning. Kiran Carlson hit an audacious six off Tom Rogers, while Will Smale scored a quick 18 from eight balls. However, a series of wickets slowed the momentum. Smale was caught off Nathan Gilchrist, and Tom Bevan was run out after a miscommunication with Carlson, who was hit and unable to complete the run.
Marcus O'Riordan claimed Carlson's wicket with his first ball, reducing Glamorgan to 52 for 3. Labuschagne and Colin Ingram then put together a 54-run partnership before Ingram was caught by Rogers for 26 off Joey Evison's delivery. Chris Cooke and Ben Kellaway fell cheaply, but Labuschagne reached his half-century in the final over.
Kent's chase began promisingly, but they quickly lost Tawanda Muyeye for 7, caught behind off Dan Douthwaite. Despite some dropped chances and a few strong hits, including a six by Billings, Kent's batting faltered under Glamorgan's tight bowling. Mason Crane dismissed Daniel Bell-Drummond, and Labuschagne bowled O'Riordan for 9.
Needing 54 from the last three overs, Kent saw Billings chip a catch to Carlson off van der Gugten. Van der Gugten then dismissed Jack Leaning, caught by Kellaway, and although Rogers made an unbeaten 31 from 12 balls, it was too little too late. Kent required 29 from the final over but only managed 15, ensuring their finish at the bottom of the South Group.
