Peter Siddle to play for Durham in the next 6 County Championship matches

Durham Cricket is delighted to announce that Peter Siddle will be joining the club for a spell in the Vitality County Championship.

The signing of Siddle follows the recent foot injury suffered by Scott Boland against Warwickshire. A recent scan has revealed that he will now require significant recovery and rehabilitation time, meaning that his time with Durham has sadly come to an end.

The club has acted quickly to recruit Australian fast bowler Siddle for Durham's next 6 County Championship matches and he will be available for selection against Essex next week.

Siddle, who has taken 222 wickets in 67 Tests for Australia, has played all formats for the national side, making 89 appearances since his debut in 2008.

The 39-year-old was an integral part of Australia's pace attack between 2008 and 2016, including a hat-trick in the 2010-11 Ashes series.

Since making his first-class debut in 2005, Siddle has been a prominent member of the Victoria side, taking figures of 8/54 against South Australia.

A regular on the English county circuit with spells at Essex, Nottinghamshire, Lancashire, and most recently Somerset, he has taken 755 first-class wickets in his career.

In his last full spell in England, he impressed for Taunton, taking 27 first-class wickets at an average of 23.92 with a best of 6/51 against Surrey. He has also impressed with the white ball, taking 17 Vitality Blast wickets at an average of 17.88 with a best of 3/10.
