Smith is the joint leading wicket-taker, having helped Wellington reach the top spot

Nathan Smith, who will be signing with Worcestershire in 2024, has helped Wellington secure the top position in the Plunket Shield. He is now the joint leading wicket-taker in the competition, having taken 30 wickets in just 11 innings.

Smith will be available for all three formats with Worcestershire this summer.

During the innings victory over Otago in Wellington, Smith claimed two first innings wickets, bringing him level with Otago's Jacob Duffy, whose tally has come from 12 innings.

Smith will fly to England for the start of the County Championship campaign and helped Wellington to their fourth win in seven matches, the other three having ended in draws.

Their victory in the space of three days moved them seven points clear of Northern Districts.

Smith and his team-mates will now face Northern Districts in the final. The match kicks off in Hamilton on 27 March.

The all-rounder has been consistently performing well in the tournament. His figures include a career-best of 6-36 against Canterbury.

Michael Bracewell, who played Vitality Blast cricket for Worcestershire last summer, achieved his career-best figures of 8-41 for Wellington in the second innings against Otago.
