Somerset has secured the services of South African pacer Migael Pretorius for six red-ball matches this season.
Pretorius, who has taken 165 wickets in 65 first-class matches, had a stint with Durham last summer. He will join the team before their second County Championship fixture against Surrey on Friday at 11:00BST.
Although he was named in the Proteas Test squad in 2020 and their T20 squad a year later, he has yet to make his debut.
Somerset director of cricket Andy Hurry stated that they wanted to bring in a player similar to Will Sutherland, who became unavailable due to injury.
