The former captain of the England cricket team praised Virat Kohli's fitness and encouraged young Indian cricketers

Former England cricket captain Kevin Pietersen praised Indian star Virat Kohli's fitness and performance, crediting him with inspiring young Indian players. Pietersen lauded Kohli's match-winning knock of 77 runs off 49 balls, which secured his side's first win of the season in their maiden home game at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru against the Punjab Kings.

Pietersen believes that Kohli's commitment to fitness has set an example for young cricketers in India.

According to Pietersen's comments on Star Sports, Kohli's performance against Punjab Kings showcased his passion and flair for the game:

“One of the most memorable aspects of his career that players and fans alike will cherish is his ability to close out matches as one of the greatest finishers of all time. Beyond his feats on the field, he has also left a lasting legacy off the field by pushing Indian cricketers to become true athletes. He not only talked about the importance of fitness and athleticism but also led by example, embodying the athleticism he preached.”

On matchday, RCB won the toss and chose to bowl. Punjab Kings was restricted to 176 runs by the RCB bowling unit. The home side was in a difficult position after the quick dismissals of Faf du Plessis and Cameron Green.

Kohli gave his team the impetus it required. Wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik followed with an explosive 10-ball 28 to seal victory.

RCB aims to extend their winning streak as they face KKR on March 29.
