UAE tour: Scotland announces ODI and T20I squads

For the tour of the United Arab Emirates in February-March 2024, Scotland will field two separate teams.

Scotland will participate in an ODI tri-series in the UAE with the hosts and Canada, under the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup League 2. There will also be a three-match T20I series against the UAE.

Scott Currie and Brad Currie, along with nineteen-year-old wicketkeeper-batter Charlie Tear, have confidently earned their maiden ODI call-up.

Since making his debut last year, Brad Currie has played T20Is for Scotland, taking 12 wickets in six matches.

Pacer Brad Wheal returns to the ODI side after almost five years out, having last played 50-over cricket for Scotland in 2019.

The experienced Richie Berrington will captain the squad in both formats with proven leadership skills.Steve Snell, Head of Performance, noticed that the tour will provide an excellent opportunity for the players to compete in a variety of formats. The selection process has been carefully designed to ensure that the teams perform at their best in the first round of CWCL2 matches, while also preparing for the demands of the future.

The Men's squad has not played any matches for almost six months. It is crucial to provide as many players as possible with the opportunity to play cricket while maintaining competitiveness on the field.

These squads offer several players a chance to showcase their skills as we look forward to the T20 World Cup in the summer.

ODI squad: Richie Berrington, Matthew Cross, Brad Currie, Scott Currie, Chris Greaves, Michael Leask, Brandon McMullen, George Munsey, Safyaan Sharif, Chris Sole, Hamza Tahir, Charlie Tear, Andrew Umeed, Mark Watt, Brad Wheal.

T20I squad: Richie Berrington, Matthew Cross, Brad Currie, James Dickinson, Chris Greaves, Oli Hairs, Jack Jarvis, Michael Leask, Gavin Main, Brandon McMullen, George Munsey, Safyaan Sharif, Chris Sole, Andrew Umeed, Mark Watt.
