Rain at Trent Bridge disrupted Nottinghamshire and Warwickshire's attempts to secure County Championship Division One survival, leaving both teams frustrated.
With Nottinghamshire needing a win to guarantee their spot in Division One and Warwickshire requiring just five points to stay safe, only 15.2 overs could be played before the weather took control. The home team managed 33-2 after being sent in to bat, but rain soon halted proceedings.
Warwickshire found success early on a damp pitch, with Ed Barnard dismissing Haseeb Hameed in the sixth over as the ball swung back to knock over his off stump. After a brief delay due to bad light, Ben Slater was caught sharply by Will Rhodes in the slips, handing Oliver Hannon-Dalby his 49th wicket of the season. However, poor light intervened once more, forcing the players off the field for the rest of the day.
Both teams will be eager to resume play as they seek to cement their Division One futures.
