Aaron Jones's 94 from just 40 balls
In just 40 balls, Jones scored an undefeated 94 runs with 10 sixes.
In the opening T20 World Cup match, Aaron Jones led the USA to their highest-ever run chase and a seven-wicket victory over Canada.
At Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas, Texas, on Saturday, Canada set the hosts a winning aim of 195 thanks to half-centuries from Navneet Dhaliwal and Nicholas Kirton.
Following the early dismissals of Steven Taylor and Monank Patel, the USA's openers, Jones and Andries Gous, embarked on a power-hitting clinic.
Jones hit ten sixes on his way to an undefeated 94 off just forty balls, while Gous added 65 to help the co-hosts of the tournament get off to a flawless start.
Aaron Jones grew up playing alongside Shai Hope and Jason Holder and against Nicholas Pooran and Rovman Powell. He made his List-A debut for Barbados in January 2016 before representing them in first-class cricket the following year. By 2018, though, he had switched to playing for USA. Jones, who was born in Queens New York, quickly became a mainstay in the USA team. His maiden List-A century against Namibia in the WCL Division 2 in 2019 helped the USA earn the side ODI status during that competition.
