Alastair Cook: 'England is slowly dying in Dharamshala'

Former England captain Alastair Cook stated that England is struggling against India in the fifth and final Test of the series at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala.

Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill scored centuries to surpass England’s first innings total of 218 runs, with Kuldeep Yadav taking 5 wickets.

According to Cook, India is closing all opportunities for England to make a comeback into the game:

“The game went out of England’s hands on the day 1 and now India is closing all doors on the visitors. There is no way back for the Ben Stokes-led team.”

He stated that England would suffer a slow defeat in Dharamshala. Test cricket is all about a gradual decline and England is going to experience that in the next few days unless something unexpected happens.

On the first day, Ravichandran Ashwin took four wickets in his 100th Test match. Yashasvi Jaiswal added another half-century to his run tally, which now stands above 700 runs. The hosts are leading 3-1, and a victory in the final Test would further strengthen their position at the top of the WTC points table.
