Before the T20 World Cup, the USA upset Bangladesh

Former New Zealand international Corey Anderson knocks an unbeaten 34 off 25 balls as the USA chase 154 to upset Bangladesh in the first of three T20 internationals.

Before co-hosting the Men's T20 World Cup next month, the United States pulled off a significant shock by defeating Bangladesh by five wickets in the opening T20 international of their three-match series.

With three balls remaining in Dallas, Texas, the USA, rated 19th in the T20 international rankings, defeated their goal of 154 thanks to Corey Anderson, a former New Zealand international, who finished 34 not out.

When the hosts needed 50 off the final 20 balls, Bangladesh seemed to be in control, but former India Under-19s all-rounder Harmeet Singh (33no off 13 balls) hit three consecutive sixes to change the tide.

While the USA still needed 24 off the final 12 balls, Anderson quickly responded with two more sixes to cap off his team's historic victory. Anderson and Singh combined for 62 runs in 4.4 overs during a decisive sixth-wicket stand that ended the match.

After defeating Ireland in 2021, this is the United States' second victory over a T20 international team with all members.

The USA is co-hosting the T20 World Cup along with the West Indies. On June 1, they play Canada. Later, they take on global powers Pakistan and India. In their last group stage encounter, the USA plays Ireland.
