During the Dharamshala Test, Shubman Gill takes a stunning catch from Ben Duckett
Good fielding and catching skills are crucial to winning matches, and the current Indian team places great emphasis on practicing these skills. This was evident in the fifth and final Test between India and England in Dharamshala.
Shubman Gill made a spectacular catch to dismiss opener Ben Duckett and give India the first breakthrough of the day. Despite Duckett's attempt to hit Kuldeep Yadav for a six, he mistimed the ball, causing it to balloon in the air. Gill ran 20 yards and successfully caught the ball, earning praise from his teammates for his exceptional effort.
Ben scored 27 runs off 58 balls and partnered with Zak Crawley to add 64 runs for the opening wicket.
Earlier in the day, Ben Stokes won the toss and elected to bat first against the team led by Rohit Sharma. India awarded a Test cap to Devdutt Padikkal, who became the fifth debutant of the series from the host nation. Rajat Patidar was ruled out due to injury. The management included Padikkal in the playing XI.
The game is significant in the context of the World Test Championship, but not the series, as India has already clinched it 3-1, winning the last three games in Vizag, Rajkot, and Ranchi.
Ben Duckett faces criticism
Ben Duckett is under fire for his comment about Yashasvi Jaiswal. He suggested that the Indian opener's ability to score double hundreds may be due to his exposure to Bazball, a brand of cricket associated with England. Nasser Hussain, Michael Vaughan, and Mike Atherton have criticized Duckett for his remarks.
India captain Rohit Sharma also took a dig at Duckett by reminding him of Rishabh Pant, who is known for playing fearless cricket.
