Essex Duo Browne and Richards Renew Contracts
Essex opener Nick Browne and fast bowler Jamal Richards have secured new one-year contracts for the 2025 county season. Browne, a left-handed batsman with nearly 9,000 runs across all formats and 20 first-class centuries (including four double hundreds), remains a vital player for Essex.
In 2024, he appeared in six County Championship matches, achieving a top score of 184, along with seven games in the One-Day Cup. Richards, at just 20 years old, led Essex's wicket tally in the 50-over tournament, taking 15 wickets with an impressive average of 24.86. Cricket committee chair Jason Gallian commended Richards, noting that his 2024 performances marked a significant step forward in his development.
A native of Leytonstone, Browne was part of Essex’s title-winning teams in 2017 and 2019, and helped clinch the Bob Willis Trophy in 2020, the club’s most recent championship. This season, Essex finished fourth in Championship Division One, closing with two wins and a draw in their last three games.
Browne expressed his continued passion for scoring runs and enthusiasm to make his Testimonial Year in 2025 unforgettable with strong on-field performances.
