For the third Test in Rajkot, Mark Wood replaces Shoaib Bashir
A change to the side that lost in Visakhapatnam. Now that Rehan's visa issue has been resolved.
Mark Wood has been recalled to England's bowling attack over offspinner Shoaib Bashir as England confirms their squad for the third Test against India.
Wood was the lone seamer in England's victory in the first Test in Hyderabad, but failed to take any wickets on a surface that did not suit his express pace. However, he has been recalled to partner James Anderson, who impressed with a five-wicket haul in Visakhapatnam last week. The surface was greener ahead of the match.
Bashir, who took four wickets on debut in the second Test, is the only change to the starting XI. That means England will field two seamers for the first time in the series. They have fielded a spin-heavy attack in each of the last two matches.
Rehan Ahmed's participation in this match was uncertain due to visa issues upon his return to India after the team's mid-series break in Abu Dhabi. But the problem is solved.
Stokes confirmed that England did not doubt that Rehan's paperwork would be approved in time for the third Test and has backed the 19-year-old leg-spinner to continue his form from the first two Tests.
England: Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Jonny Bairstow, Ben Stokes, Ben Foakes, Rehan Ahmed, Tom Hartley, Mark Wood, James Anderson
