Glamorgan has submitted a bid for a tier one professional women's cricket team in 2025
The England and Wales Cricket Board has announced plans to provide up to £5m of additional annual funding for women's cricket.
The plans also include the implementation of a three-tier system in the sport by 2025, and counties are currently being invited to submit tier one applications.
Glamorgan chief executive Dan Cherry has stated that the bid could be 'transformational' for the sport in Wales.
Unsuccessful applicants will be considered for semi-professional and amateur slots in tiers two and three, with the selection process expected to be completed by September 2024.
