Glamorgan's Dominant Win Over Nottinghamshire Secures Top Spot in Group B
Glamorgan continued their unbeaten streak in the Metro Bank One Day Cup with a commanding eight-wicket victory over Nottinghamshire at the Gnoll in Neath. Career-best performances from Andy Gorvin and Eddie Byrom were pivotal in securing the win.
Gorvin led Glamorgan's bowling attack, taking 5 for 56, as the seamers kept the Outlaws' batting lineup under control. Jamie McIlroy and Dan Douthwaite also contributed with two wickets each, limiting Nottinghamshire to 274 for 9.
In response, Glamorgan chased down the target with ease. Byrom scored an unbeaten 123, while Colin Ingram added 103 not out. The victory places Glamorgan at the top of Group B, ahead of Warwickshire on net run rate.
Nottinghamshire struggled early on, losing two wickets for just 23 runs in the power play due to excellent bowling from Timm van der Gugten and McIlroy. Despite a strong partnership of 86 runs between Freddie McCann and Haseeb Hameed, wickets fell at regular intervals. Hameed's 89 provided some stability, but contributions from Tom Moores and Liam Patterson-White, who both scored in the thirties, were not enough to set a challenging total.
Glamorgan's innings began with a solid opening stand of 103 between Byrom and Will Smale, who scored 37 before being caught by Lyndon James. After Kiran Carlson's dismissal, Glamorgan were 108 for 2, briefly giving Nottinghamshire hope. However, a dominant partnership of 170 between Byrom and Ingram sealed the win, making Nottinghamshire's total seem inadequate. The duo hit 27 fours and six sixes, with Ingram reaching his 10th List-A century by scoring the winning runs.
