Gloucestershire are struggling in the County Championship after Yorkshire set them a target of 498 to win
Adam Lyth scored a century and two half-centuries, while Joe Root, Harry Brook, and George Hill also contributed with the bat, as Yorkshire declared on 434-6 on the third day of their County Championship match against Gloucestershire in Bristol.
This set their opponents an unlikely target of 498 to win.
However, by the close of play, Gloucestershire had slumped to 97-4, with Ollie Price unbeaten on 44.
Lyth was unbeaten on 39 when play began and soon moved to a flawless fifty.
Fin Bean also reached his half-century before Lyth struck three fours through the off-side against Marchant de Lange.
Lyth survived a confident appeal for a catch behind off De Lange when on 93 before reaching a 120-ball hundred.
The opening partnership had reached 180 when Gloucestershire skipper Graeme van Buuren struck to pin Bean lbw. At lunch, the score was 194-1, with Yorkshire leading by 257.
Lyth was caught by Gloucestershire skipper Van Buuren, who claimed a third wicket when first-innings centurion Shan Masood was stumped by James Bracey.
Root progressed to fifty but was caught by Bracey diving full-length to hold a one-handed leg-side catch off Zaman Akhter.
Brook was unbeaten on 51 as the hosts took tea on 365 for 4 before he was caught at deep midwicket off the bowling of De Lange.
Yorkshire continued batting and Hill scored fifty before being caught at wide long-on off Price.
Gloucestershire's second innings started badly. Chris Dent edged a Ben Coad delivery straight to Bean at leg slip.
Cameron Bancroft added 41 runs with Price before being caught behind while trying to drive Matt Milnes.
Miles Hammond raced to 35 but was caught at midwicket by Brook off Dan Moriarty, and nightwatchman Josh Shaw was dismissed lbw by Matt Fisher.
