Gloucestershire County Cricket Club will host a charity tournament to mark its 60th anniversary and raise funds for cystic fibrosis

On Thursday, May 16, the Seat Unique Stadium in Bristol will host a charity tournament to mark 60 years of the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.

Three teams of cricketers will compete in a round-robin, 10-over format at this international-class venue, which is frequented by renowned cricketers such as Ben Stokes and Joe Root. Following the tournament, attendees will retire to the Bristol Pavilion for an evening of food, musical bingo, and a raffle with incredible prizes on offer.

Neil Priscott, a Trustee at Cystic Fibrosis Trust, is organising a tournament to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the leading UK charity. He expressed his delight at recently joining the board of Cystic Fibrosis Trust, a charity that has been ever-present in his life since his sister Jo and brothers Stuart and John were diagnosed with CF at an early age. I have witnessed the incredible transformation in my brothers' lives due to their use of the latest treatments. Unfortunately, the development of new modulator therapies came too late for my sister, who passed away in late 2018 after living a full and courageous life.

Cystic fibrosis is an inherited disease caused by a faulty gene that controls the movement of salt and water in and out of cells. As a result, the lungs and digestive system become clogged with mucus, making it difficult to breathe and digest food. In the UK, more than 11,000 people are living with CF. The median age of death for those who died from cystic fibrosis in 2022 was only 33 years old.
